Forza Horizon 6 is packed with incredible rides, but few feel as rewarding to track down as the 2005 Mitsubishi #1 Sierra Sierra Enterprises Lancer Evolution Time Attack. Hidden away as one of the game's 15 rare Barn Finds across Japan, this legendary track monster is an absolute must-have for anyone's garage.
If you are looking to unlock this piece of motorsport history, here is a quick guide on where to look, the real-world story behind it, and how to make it competitive in online lobbies.

How to Trigger the Barn Find Rumor
You won't be able to just drive out and grab this car from the start. You will need to put in some time progressing through the main festival storyline.
Keep pushing forward until you unlock Legends Island and begin diving into the regional side stories—like delivery missions or photo challenges. Once you pick up enough level-ups from completing these gold events, the game will trigger a "Barn Find Rumor," which drops that familiar purple search circle right onto your map.
Exact Barn Location
When the rumor pops up, you will want to head out to the Northern Shimanoyama region.
  • Look for Narai-juku on your map.
  • Take the off-road dirt trail located directly above Narai-juku and start driving east.
  • As you follow the trail, keep a close eye on the right-hand side for a hidden exit path cutting into the foliage.
  • Follow that small path off the main trail, and it will lead you straight to the secluded barn hiding the Evo.

The Real-World History
What makes this specific Barn Find so cool is how much the developers leaned into real automotive history. In the late 2000s, this exact 4G63-powered Evolution IX was built by Sierra Sierra Enterprises for one purpose: to smash track records. It became legendary on the global Time Attack circuit, famously trading blows and lap records with the iconic Cyber Evo.
However, in 2010, the car suffered a catastrophic turbo failure. Instead of being rebuilt right away, it was parked in storage and left sitting for over a decade. Car enthusiasts finally rediscovered it in 2022, making its placement in a Horizon barn a brilliant nod to its real-life decade in hiding.
Factory Specs After Restoration
Once the Horizon Festival garage crew finishes cleaning off the years of dust, you get your hands on a purpose-built time attack machine. Out of the box, it features extreme aerodynamics, insane cornering grip, and some heavy-hitting numbers:
  • Engine: 2.2L Turbocharged Inline-4 (Cosworth 4G63)
  • Power Output: 949 bhp / 703 lb-ft of torque
  • Drivetrain: All-Wheel Drive (AWD)
  • Weight: 2,770 lbs (1,256 kg)

Competitive Tuning & Viability
While 949 horsepower sounds like an absolute weapon on paper, the car's base Performance Index (PI) bracket places it in a tough spot. In its stock form, its lower PI makes it difficult to fight native S2-class hypercars, which will easily pull away on long, wide-open straights.
If you want to take this car into standard online lobbies and actually win, the community consensus is to swap in the Turbo Rally engine. Doing this lowers the entry class requirement, allowing you to optimize a highly competitive build for either A-class or S1-class. By bringing it down a bracket, you can take full advantage of its incredible downforce, turning the Sierra Sierra Evo into a dominant grip specialist that absolutely glues itself to tight, winding street circuits.
